A brief description of the history of the Shariati hospital in Iran:
Dr. Shariati Hospital is one of the well-equipped general hospitals in Tehran. This hospital was established in December 1353 under the name “Dariush Kabir Hospital”.
The first and oldest part of Shariati Hospital is the Nuclear Medicine Center, which was built in 1344 with the efforts of Sadegh Nizam Mafi (internal specialist, endocrinologist and professor at Tehran University) and finally started working in 1967 under the leadership of Nizam Mafi.
Following the increase in the population of the region and of course the increase in medical, educational, research and technological progress, the hospital’s therapeutic activities have also increased, and following the purchase of advanced devices and the hiring of new staff, the need to expand the space in the center was felt. Therefore, each of the departments gradually expanded their scope of activity and other parts such as the story clinic on the right side at the entrance of the hospital and the laboratory building nearby and on the right side, as well as the emergency building and the blood department were built in front of the hospital in the last few years, so that The area of this center increased to about 57762 square meters and the hospital entered its current form and is currently considered one of the largest active and referral hospitals in the country, which aims to increase the health level of the society by providing qualitative, diagnostic, therapeutic, educational, and research services. According to the standard, he is making serious efforts to the honorable people of the Islamic homeland.
By using new knowledge and technology in various fields and also due to the presence of doctors who are active in international communities, Shariati Hospital has succeeded in obtaining the International Patient Acceptance Certificate (IPD) since 2018 and is one of the first hospitals of the university. Medical Sciences of Tehran has succeeded in obtaining this certificate. Shariati Hospital has 830 approved beds, 630 of which are active. The number of faculty members is 156 and the number of nursing personnel is 695. The average number of outpatients and inpatients in the hospital is 150,000 people.

Research Center for Nuclear Medicine (RCNM) in Iran
Research Center for Nuclear Medicine ( RCNM ) as the first nuclear medicine center in the country was founded in 1967 with focusing on educational , research , diagnostic and therapeutic goals in the field of nuclear medicine . Since 1981 , after the establishment of the first nuclear medicine education department in the country , the residency program has been started in 1983 and more than 675 of the nuclear physicians , who are now working in 200 nuclear medicine centers throughout the country , have completed their nuclear medicine residency program in this center .
